Find Your Passion... and Perseverance Comes Easily!

"Creativity doesn't wait for that perfect moment. It fashions its own perfect moments out of ordinary ones." ~Bruce Garrabrandt

Little Gems of Wisdom & Fun from Mary Lynn Ziemer

If you’re one of the many who are at home with more time on your hands than usual, it may feel good to use it for a little me time and self-development. It's a great time to check off items on your “to do” list that you never quite seem to get to. But, in order to do these things, you’ll need enthusiasm, motivation, and perseverance to move forward. Here’s how you can stay on track. Enjoy a lovely balance of having some fun, while also fueling your love tank! As a result, you'll find the energy and focus required to make things happen.

Enjoy your creativity

The key to endurance is often found within our passions. Everyone has them. Expressing our unique talents and abilities will bring more energy, enthusiasm, peace, and calm... not to mention better health.  Why? Creative activities bring out what's in your heart, your "oh so good" feelings. Remember, how you feel is creating your world, so this is a fun way to get more of what you want. Engaging in feel good activities is a way to expand to a boundless energy that naturally uplifts and inspires us to get things done!

As long as the activity brings you joy, how you express your creative feelings is not as important as the simple act of doing it.

You may have talents that you are not even aware of yet. Your soul longs to express itself through your own unique flow of creativity. Experience life in ways that feel good to you. Today, just select something that comes to your mind and do it.  It's really quite simple. Just take 15 minutes or so for this fun and simple exercise in exploring your creativity. Here are a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing...

  • Put on a tune and sing along to it

  • Dance by yourself to some music that moves you

  • Create a meal or a try out a fun, new recipe

  • Try out some sketching or painting

  • Play "photographer," taking fun pictures of anything that catches your eye

  • Play your favorite instrument or pick up one you've always wanted to learn

  • Start Writing or journaling

  • Do some redecorating in your home

  • Try your hand at sewing, crocheting, or knitting

  • Take a nature walk

  • Put on a fun exercise video or dance instruction

  • Go kayaking, paddle boarding, or canoeing

  • Do some gardening

There are countless activities that will bring out the joyful feelings inside you!

A former client recently sent me some pictures of his time in imposed seclusion. Two of his passions are gardening and cooking. I have to say that the smile on his face in the photos he sent reminded me of what a little slice of heaven is meant to look like. They made me smile. He was clearly enjoying himself with what looked like not a care in the world, except the love he was pouring out to the earth and mother nature.

Allow yourself to have fun and give yourself permission to play! Notice, as you begin, you’ll feel happier, lighter, reenergized, and rejuvenated.

So, what do you love? What lights your soul afire? Engage in that passion for the sheer joy of it, and see the amazing side effect it has on you. You’ll see that, by being more childlike and light-hearted, you can rekindle your energy and enthusiasm for the tasks on your to-do list.

Have an absolutely magical week full of love, gratitude, and fun, fun, FUN!
