“The secret of patience is to do something else in the meantime.”

Little Gems of Wisdom & Fun from Mary Lynn Ziemer
When we become calm, everything falls more easily into place, and we naturally become more patient. This patience is a key to our success. Patience is a calm knowing that what you want in your heart is absolutely possible. You just KNOW that what you desire is already in the works, and you are well on your way to a successful outcome. "Knowing" is the place where you create what you want to happen. Calm creates patience, and this takes us to knowing.
So, how can we create more of that calm knowing in our life?
Do you remember taking a trip as a child? Do you remember being so excited to get there that you asked many times, "Are we there yet?" Or, if you were waiting for something delicious to come out of the oven, you’d ask, “Is it done yet?”
My mother used to say, “A watched pot never boils,” when I couldn’t wait for her homemade tapioca pudding to be finished. And it’s true. The more I stood by waiting for it to be done, and the more times I asked, the longer it seemed to take. What my mother was so wisely conveying to me, as she shushed me away to some other part of our house, was this. When we become patient and shift our focus to something else in that very same moment that makes us feel good, we actually get what we want faster.
If you remember, time is a relative experience for each of us. It’s a human mental construct. As Einstein so brilliantly said, “Time and Space are modes by which we think and not conditions in which we live. Time is an illusion.”
We all know that time flies when we’re having fun! So, when we choose to do something else that we enjoy, having fun in that precious present moment, and experience another possibility in front of us, we actually become calmer in our mind. As we do this, patience comes naturally. Then, the thing that we desire so intensely will come that much more quickly. Patience is like having a microwave oven. It speeds up the process, and we get to have fun while it’s happening.
So, just follow these steps to help you practice the joy of patience.
1. Trust that what you are asking for is in the works, knowing that you are powerful beyond your wildest dreams.
2. Stay in the present moment, having fun and feeling joyful. Joy always takes us to calm. If you’re focusing on something too intently that's causing you to feel impatient, find something else to do that feels good.
3. Feel that it’s in production now., and KNOW that you are the one creating it based on how good you feel. When you feel good, you feel calmer.
4. Focus your thoughts on the dreams in your mind, only in a way that makes you happy. Envision pictures that reveal the way your life will look when your dream comes true. Select a snapshot and hold it in your mind. See the picture clearly with feelings of joy.
Do this as often as it feels good. Remember, how you feel is the key to your creation, so feel good and you’ll create it more quickly.
Having patience gets you where you want to go faster because it's rooted in heart-felt knowing. All things come when we have complete faith that they arrive with perfect timing. We see our lives transform as we live in the flow, with ease, and our lives become truly magical.
Have an absolutely magical week full of love, gratitude, and fun, fun, fun!
