The Magic of Gratitude

"If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness. It will change your life mightily." - Gerald Good

Little Gems of Wisdom & Fun from Mary Lynn Ziemer- 11/13/17

This week in the U.S., we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. But, the practice of gratitude shouldn't require a holiday. Today, and every day, be grateful for the gifts in your life and experience the power of thankfulness, and it will change your life mightily! Here are three tips for getting started.

1. Today, appreciate all your blessings and express gratitude for your life and what you have at this very moment. Think, say, and write the words “Thank you, I love you” throughout the day to everyone and everything, as it is an essential step to improved health, peace, financial prosperity, and manifestation of everything you desire. Make it the signature characteristic of who you are and watch the improvements in your life flow.

Notice the good feelings that occur as you give thanks. Notice the heartfelt intensity of happiness within yourself. It feels so good to be grateful. And the responsive smile of others, as they receive your gratitude with appreciation, is frosting on the cake. Instead of waiting for that special day to celebrate, spend some time today toasting to everything you’re thankful for. Open your heart and experience gratitude as much as you can. There is an endless list of people and things to be grateful for.

Here are a few things for you to think about this Thanksgiving week. Give thanks for:

  • The people in your life who love and support you

  • The things all around you that make your life more enjoyable

  • The animals who adore you

  • All the healthy parts of your body (and even those that aren’t, so they can become healthier)

  • Your teachers and mentors who have shown you the way

  • The food you eat

  • The home you call your own

There are so many more, big and small. If you want to feel wonderful right now, stop and make a list of all you are grateful for today.

2. We’ve all heard the famous quote, “Ask and you shall receive,” and when you do there is nothing that will not be given. But, when you ask with gratitude in advance of having your desire, you are asking in a way that will yield benefits far beyond your expectations. This is love with grace that fills your heart as you make your request. Feel that gratitude and joy as you see your desire in your mind and you will have it faster. Why is this so powerful? Because it is the wonderful feeling of love and gratitude and fun within you that creates whatever it is that you truly desire.

As you feel this love and gratitude, with fun in mind, you will have more abundance. There is nothing that cannot be achieved when you feel thankfulness for what you already have now, and you express thankfulness in advance for whatever it is you are asking for.

3. Give to others, and be grateful from your heart that you have it to give. Do it without thought of personal gain. This will fuel the completion of your request. Giving and receiving are 2 sides of the Abundance coin. You must give to receive and feel abundantly wealthy for all that you already have. This is the truth: Only when you give thanks for all that you already have will you have a life of abundance with more to be thankful for. So, have gratitude now and be grateful even before you see your new reality unfold.

As you practice gratitude, feel the joy seep deeply within you. Notice the happiness arising from your heart. These are the feelings that create a life of sheer joy!
