Embrace your creativity!

"Creativity is the way I share my soul with the world." ~ Brene Brown

As children we used our imagination and creative abilities easily. We could make things from almost nothing. I remember as a young child my father used to bring home big cartons discarded by the shoe company where he worked. I loved playing in them for what seemed like hours at a time. I could easily sit inside and imagine away. I brought my dolls and favorite stuffed animal inside and created a space for them too. I’d sing and talk to them like they were alive.

As I grew and went to school, I learned to be an adult, to be efficient and to stay inside the lines as I colored. Then when I went to work I put my imagination away as I was taught to think and concentrate on my work. As I did this I left my imagination and creative time behind. I put a very valuable part of myself away until years later when I realized how good it made me feel to daydream again, to write about what I wanted out of life, to teach my kids to dance, to take piano lessons with my daughter, to watch my flowers grow, and spend time walking and riding in nature. I found that doing those fun creative things again made me feel better and calmer, more connected and "in the flow."

So here’s the lesson I learned from those enjoyable experiences that always felt so good.

Be more like a child that loves to draw and sing, without a care in the world! Live in the present moment as you free your imagination, artistic expression and creativity! Everyone has unique talents and abilities, expressing them will bring more energy, peace, and calm and you will find that you love yourself more and more just exactly as you are!

Why? Creative activities bring out what's in your heart, your truest desires. It is a way to expand to a boundless energy that naturally makes you feel great. As you do, you are assured to connect to your Source of Power within, the Universe, God, the Pure Potential of Creativity that you are. As you move into your next moment of adventure, you will create more love, gratitude, and fun than ever before... for yourself and everyone around you.

As long as the activity brings you joy, how you express your creative feelings is not as important as simply the act of doing it. Remember, how you feel is creating your life. So do what you love, and you’ll create more things in your life that you will love!
