The Importance of Me Time

"An empty lantern provides no light. Self-care is the fuel that allows your light to shine brightly."

Little Gems of Wisdom & Fun from Mary Lynn Ziemer

Focus on feeling lots of love today!   Today, and every day, make sure you take a little time for just you.  Make it a requirement for yourself, and make it sacred.  For whatever time you've set aside, turn off your phone, computer, and all of the other distractions.  Put out the "do not disturb" sign and just create some time to get calm. Tap into the power of love that you are at your core.

You can give yourself this time alone at home, in your office, or in the calm of nature.  Wherever you are, just let go and begin by focusing on feeling love in your heart for you.

Meditation, yoga, and prayer or affirmations are also perfect examples of powerful quiet time.  Even 15 minutes a day will help you on the road to peace. This isn't a lot to ask of yourself, especially when the outcome will make you extremely happy and create a much greater sense of peace, calm, and clarity throughout your day.

Your heart is comprised of the 40,000 most powerful cells in your body. So, the key is to activate these most influential cells by utilizing the “little brain in your heart.” As you shift your awareness from your "thinking mind" to your "feeling heart," you give your body permission to awaken the healing chemistry in your body.

How can you do this?

1) During your quiet time, put your hand on your heart and visualize your heart opening. Then, feel your heart beating with love for you.

2) To enhance the calmness of the moment, slow your breathing by taking some long deep breaths in and out. Breathe from your heart center, where you feel your touch. Try breathing 5 seconds in and 5 seconds out for a few minutes.

3) Now, be sure to create a loving feeling in your heart. Speak to yourself with positive and supportive self-talk and experience how good it feels to take care of yourself.  Be grateful for who you are and your uniqueness.  Appreciate all that you have and the love that you share. Care about the person you have become and appreciate the magnificent potential of the ever evolving you.

Give yourself this quick and easy gift throughout your day for feelings of consistent calm. As you do this, your heart sends signals to your brain, telling it to release dopamine and serotonin into your system. Plus, we receive an additional bonus when we intensify the feelings of our heart. We turn on our natural and powerful immune response system and release anti-aging hormones that last for hours afterwards.

Remember, as you give yourself love and affection, you open yourself further to receiving more of it, and you’ll have lots to give to others.  Love is the greatest power that exists! And the best news is that there is no limitation to the amount of love we can feel for ourselves and for others. When our love tank is full, without doing anything else, everyone around us easily and effortlessly feels better too. They get a boost of our positive energy... just by being around us. It’s called the ripple effect!

Creating some "me time" for yourself is a truly simple way to feel more love and joy in your life than ever before.  As you do, you are on your way to creating everything you could possible want:  better relationships, improved health, more money, more fulfillment, purpose, passion and more. This is truly the first step to you creating the life of your dreams!
